Terms of Use

Plain terms for a site that publishes free guides and asks nothing of you in return.

By using probirdfeeder.com you accept the terms below. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

The advice on this site is general information#

Guides on ProBirdFeeder describe general practice for feeding wild birds in North America. They are not veterinary advice, wildlife rehabilitation advice, legal advice, or a substitute for guidance from your state, provincial or local wildlife authority.

This matters in a few concrete places:

  • Local law varies. Feeding wildlife is restricted or prohibited in some jurisdictions, particularly in bear country and during disease outbreaks. Our bears and regional guides flag this, but you are responsible for checking your own local rules.
  • Sick and injured birds need a licensed rehabilitator, not a website. See there is a sick bird at my feeder.
  • DIY projects involve tools, and the DIY guides assume you will work safely and within your own competence. You build at your own risk.

We take accuracy seriously, as set out in the editorial policy, but we make no warranty that every statement is complete, current or suited to your particular situation, and we are not liable for outcomes arising from following advice published here.

All text, illustrations and page design on this site are the property of ProBirdFeeder unless stated otherwise, and are protected by copyright.

You may quote short passages with attribution and a link back to the page. Teachers, libraries, nature centers and wildlife groups may print pages for non-commercial educational use.

You may not republish guides in whole or in substantial part, use the content to train commercial machine learning models, or scrape the site at a volume that burdens the server.
